Switching from Android to iPhone (iOS)

Switching between platforms (like Android, iOS, Windows) is not as easy it should be. But in some ways, moving from the Google Android platform to Apple iOS may be slightly easier than going the other way. But there will be some Google-specific things that you may miss, such as tight integration with some Google applications.

Contacts calendar and e-mail
I experienced that as being a Google Android user, you've likely been using Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Contacts. This is a good thing, since those applications work really well with the iPhone. But keep in mind, that the Apple mail client is not the Gmail client.

As expected, Apple introduced the iPhone 4S at its "Let's Talk iPhone" event on October 4. The news was underwhelming and disappointing to many who were also expecting an iPhone 5. There's also the fact that the iPhone 4S looks almost identical to the iPhone 4. However, there's more than meets the eye, as Apple made a number of changes under the hood to improve on performance, including a faster processor, a more advanced camera, and a new antenna design. Offering more choice will certainly help Apple's cause, but is there enough to persuade iPhone 4 owners to upgrade? Read on for more about the iPhone 4S and our initial hands-on impressions--we took a Sprint handset for a brief spin just after the event--and be sure to let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Processor and battery life
The iPhone 4S features Apple's A5 dual-core 1GHz processor along with a dual-core GPU. Apple says the new chipset will make the iPhone 4S twice as fast and offer graphics performance that is seven times faster than the iPhone 4's. Despite the more powerful processor, the company claims the smartphone will be able to provide 8 hours of talk time over 3G, 14 hours over 2G, 6 hours of browsing over 3G, 9 hours via Wi-Fi, 10 hours of video playback, and 40 hours of music playback.

Samsung GalaxyTab 10.3 wins over Apple iPad 2s

Summary: But, the battle over whether Samsung’s Galaxy Tab violates Apple’s iPad design in the European Union is far from done. Finally Samsung GalaxyTab 10.3 wins over Apple iPad 2s.

Don’t start the celebration yet, but Samsung, in a technical ruling over Apple, can once more sell the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the European Union (EU). The battle over Samsung’s Galaxy Tab violating Apple’s design for the iPad is far from done though.

OS X 10.7 Lion is more painful than Vista

Within seconds of the OS becoming available I had begun downloading Mac OS X 10.7 ‘Lion’ to my trusty Mac mini. In under an hour I had blown away the Snow Leopard install and was up and running with Lion.

Microsoft declares victory over Linux, names Apple and Google main rivals

Microsoft Declares Victory over Linux but also named Apple and Google main rivals, this is because linux 3.0 is not a compareable with microsoft windows.

The big takeaways:

Linux is no longer a desktop threat. A few years back, it looked like Linux might carve out a niche on low-end, low-priced netbooks. But the iPad took care of that hardware category, and this year Microsoft confidently eliminated Linux from the list of competitors to the Windows operating system.

It’s a three-horse race. Last year, Microsoft used Apple and Google as examples of “well-established companies” that make up its main competition. This year, it threw in the word mainly. “The Windows operating system faces competition,” according to Microsoft, “mainly from Apple and Google.

Security is in, “innovation” is out. For as long as I can remember, Microsoft has bragged in its public filings of its record of innovation.
