Switching from Android to iPhone (iOS)

Switching between platforms (like Android, iOS, Windows) is not as easy it should be. But in some ways, moving from the Google Android platform to Apple iOS may be slightly easier than going the other way. But there will be some Google-specific things that you may miss, such as tight integration with some Google applications.

Offering more choice will certainly help Apple's cause, but is there enough to persuade iPhone 4 owners to upgrade? Read on for more about the iPhone 4S and our initial hands-on impressions--we took a Sprint handset for a brief spin just after the event--and be sure to let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Processor and battery life
The iPhone 4S features Apple's A5 dual-core 1GHz processor along with a dual-core GPU. Apple says the new chipset will make the iPhone 4S twice as fast and offer graphics performance that is seven times faster than the iPhone 4's. Despite the more powerful processor, the company claims the smartphone will be able to provide 8 hours of talk time over 3G, 14 hours over 2G, 6 hours of browsing over 3G, 9 hours via Wi-Fi, 10 hours of video playback, and 40 hours of music playback.

American Drones Are Infected with a Computer Virus Unbelievable

American Drones Are Infected with a Computer Virus Unbelievable
A virus has infected America's drone fleet, Wired's Noah Shachtman reports. It logs every keystroke operators type from their base in Creech Air Force Base in Nevada, but that hasn't halted their missions. Though the military hasn't found any incidents of the virus sending information to an outside source, they haven't been able to get rid of it. Shachtman explains:
"We keep wiping it off, and it keeps coming back," says a source familiar with the network infection, one of three that told Danger Room about the virus. "We think it's benign. But we just don't know."
American Drones Are Infected with a Computer Virus

Military network security specialists aren't sure whether the virus and its so-called "keylogger" payload were introduced intentionally or by accident; it may be a common piece of malware that just happened to make its way into these sensitive networks. The specialists don't know exactly how far the virus has spread. But they’re sure that the infection has hit both classified and unclassified machines at Creech.

The U.S. has increasingly relied on drones to carry out the war on terror in Afghanistan in recent years. Al Qaeda YouTube preacher Anwar al-Awlaki was killed last month by a drone strike in Yemen

Microsoft declares victory over Linux, names Apple and Google main rivals

Microsoft Declares Victory over Linux but also named Apple and Google main rivals, this is because linux 3.0 is not a compareable with microsoft windows.

The big takeaways:

Linux is no longer a desktop threat. A few years back, it looked like Linux might carve out a niche on low-end, low-priced netbooks. But the iPad took care of that hardware category, and this year Microsoft confidently eliminated Linux from the list of competitors to the Windows operating system.

It’s a three-horse race. Last year, Microsoft used Apple and Google as examples of “well-established companies” that make up its main competition. This year, it threw in the word mainly. “The Windows operating system faces competition,” according to Microsoft, “mainly from Apple and Google.

Security is in, “innovation” is out. For as long as I can remember, Microsoft has bragged in its public filings of its record of innovation.

The New BlackBerry PlayBook

The New BlackBerry PlayBook Another Tab In Hand

RIM held a special media-only event in New York City on Thursday showing off the New BlackBerry PlayBook. Here’s a hands-on look.

BlackBerry PlayBook In Hand
Nothing very new was revealed at the event, but it was a great opportunity to get a closer glance at a slate that is a bit out of the ordinary when compared to the slew of other tablets rolling out this spring.
Dubbed as the “professional-grade” tablet, the PlayBook definitely fits in more as a business-friendly slate.
The BlackBerry PlayBook falls into the 7-inch tablet range alongside the original Samsung Galaxy Tab. When I first held the device, it immediately reminded me of the feel of the HP Slate. That’s mainly due to size and its professional-related apps, but the BlackBerry Tablet OS (which is partnered with Android) is much more graphic heavy.
However, one of the most outstanding features on the BlackBerry PlayBook is the video playback and the capacitive multi-touch display with its 1,024 x 600 resolution. It supports full HD 1080p video and a multitude of codecs thanks to the 1GB of RAM, a 1GHz processor and support for Adobe Flash 10.1. There are plenty of things to praise on the PlayBook, but it’s questionable how useful it will be for non-BlackBerry owners - especially given the e-mail situation.

Breaking Report: Microsoft sending Windows 8 to PC vendors For Testing

Microsoft may be sending its PC vendor partners early versions of the Windows 8 operating system.

The software giant Microsoft announced earlier this year that Windows 7 is the fastest-selling operating system ever released, tallying over 300 million licenses sold through 2010.

So Microsoft Windows 8 Possibly Named As ( Cloudx or Rebornz ) will be available in 2012.

At the Consumer Electronics Show in January in USA, Microsoft revealed that the next version of Windows would be capable of running on ARM architecture in addition to x86 architecture and LCD Compatible with enrich Artificial Intelligence equipped. Nvidia, Qualcomm, and Texas Instruments were specifically cited as Microsoft's ARM partners at the time.

Beyond that, much of the speculation surrounding Windows 8 has come by way of leaks.
Last summer, a group of slides labeled "Microsoft Confidential" hit the Web discussing some of the features that might be making their way to the next version of Windows. They included face recognition, faster boot-up times, and a focus on 3D capability and Automated System Improvement System.

Those slides were followed by a report from BusinessInsider last month, citing its own sources who said that Microsoft wants to show off tablets running Windows 8 over the summer. A leaked "tablet road map" from Dell that surfaced last month, as well, indicated that the company was planning to release a Windows 8 tablet, codenamed "Peju," in the first quarter of 2012.

Microsoft did not immediately respond to Explore Blog Inc. request for comment. But Did not denied the news quoted by Explorers...

The First Plastic Computer Processor

The First Plastic Computer Processor Is Ready To Develop

Two recent developments—a plastic processor and printed memory— show that computing doesn't have to rely on inflexible silicon.

Silicon may underpin the computers that surround us, but the rigid inflexibility of the semiconductor means it cannot reach everywhere. The first computer processor and memory chips made out of plastic semiconductors suggest that, someday, nowhere will be out of bounds for computer power.
Researchers in Europe used 4,000 plastic, or organic, transistors to create the plastic microprocessor, which measures roughly two centimeters square and is built on top of flexible plastic foil. "Compared to using silicon, this has the advantage of lower price and that it can be flexible," says Jan Genoe at the IMEC nanotechnology center in Leuven, Belgium. Genoe and IMEC colleagues worked with researchers at the TNO research organization and display company Polymer Vision, both in the Netherlands.

The processor can so far run only one simple program of 16 instructions. The commands are hardcoded into a second foil etched with plastic circuits that can be connected to the processor to "load" the program. This allows the processor to calculate a running average of an incoming signal, something that a chip involved in processing the signal from a sensor might do, says Genoe. The chip runs at a speed of six hertz-on the order of a million times slower than a modern desktop machine-and can only process information in eight-bit chunks at most, compared to 128 bits for modern computer processors.

Organic transistors have already been used in certain LED displays and RFID tags, but have not been used to make a processor of any kind. The microprocessor was presented at the ISSCC conference in San Jose, California, last month.

HTC EVO

The 25th annual CTIA Wireless show which was held in Las Vegas earlier this year has been a huge success, spotlighting the major trends of the cellular industry and other mobile wireless technologies. The exhibition brought together carriers, equipment manufacturers, service providers, software companies and more than 1000 vendors who showed their wares.
Leading cell phone manufacturers such as Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson showed off the latest models. But one of the most important announcements came from HTC who unveiled its new EVO WiMAX, a handset, which can easily be considered as one of the most powerful devices that is available on the market right now.
Statistics suggests, Smart Phones covered just about 21% of all mobile sales last year (2009) but nevertheless, the adoption is increasing day by day and according to experts, with releases this year as big as the HTC Evo 4G, that is the first official phone with support for next generation networks, Smart Phone volumes will over power the more common features and low-end phones in sales, by the end of this year.
The HTC EVO features a 4.3 inch touchscreen along with two digital cameras (principal one being 8 Mega pixel that can shoot video at 720p and 1.3 Mega pixel back for teleconferencing). Comparatively It is actually big in size measuring 121.92 x 66.04 x 12.7mm and weighing 170g. The 3G/4G handset runs traditional CDMA 2000 radio standards and additionally features WiMax with Voice Over Internel Protocol (VoIP). Processor is a 1-GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon and it also got support for Adobe Flash. Like HD2, Evo acts as a Wi-Fi hub so that users can share 4G connection and can get all the all the sensors and features that they expect from a smartphone.
